Love that Poetry! Learning to Read, Write and Integrate Poetry!
Let’s have a lot of fun as we play, experiment, and share ways to integrate poetry into our everyday teaching. In this workshop we will introduce the idea of a poetry toolbox, filled with ideas for helping students play with words-- exploring identity, humor, and friendship. Experience devices such as alliteration and onomatopoeia and poetic forms such as haiku, picture poems, and free verse. Leave this workshop with some easy to implement, use-it-tomorrow ideas to integrate poetry in your classroom and across the curriculum. Deepen your students connections with natural sciences, social studies, or even mathematics. You will take with you some concrete ideas for engaging students during April, National Poetry Month, or for livening up every season. Let’s take a moment for a “poement” and celebrate the beauty of words.
